01

What type of massage is right for me?

Every body has a story — and we start by listening to yours. At your first appointment we’ll talk about your goals, your history, and what daily life feels like in your body. From there, I tailor your session using neuromuscular techniques, movement education, scar therapy, or Pilates principles to help restore comfort and ease.
No two sessions are ever identical — because no two people are.

02

How often should I come for massage?

It depends on what your body needs and how you respond. For maintenance, a massage every 4–6 weeks works well for most people. If you’re working through an injury, stress, or persistent tension, weekly or fortnightly sessions may help you progress faster.

Think of it as a training plan for your movement health.

03

What should I expect in my first session or Pilates class?

You’ll complete a short health form so we can ensure everything is safe and appropriate. We’ll discuss your goals, check posture or movement (as needed), and create a plan before beginning.
During massage, you’ll be professionally draped at all times. Communication is welcome — pressure, comfort, and preferences matter.
For Pilates, wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle; I guide you through form from the very first exercise.
The goal is to help you feel informed, safe, and supported from the start.

04

Can massage or Pilates help with my pain, injury, or posture?

Yes. Massage supports soft-tissue recovery, reduces tension, improves mobility, and calms the nervous system. Pilates builds the awareness and stability your body needs to move well.
Together, they help address symptoms and the underlying patterns contributing to pain or imbalance.
When you move better, you often feel better.

05

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No. You can book directly.
If you’re under medical care or recovering from surgery or injury, it’s helpful to mention it so I can tailor your session safely. I’m always happy to collaborate with your health professional if needed. Some health insurances can reimburse your massage sessions if you have been referred to us; one of the benefits of being a registered neuromuscular massage therapist.

Your wellbeing is a team effort.

06

Is scar therapy painful?

No. Gentle Scar Therapy is light, slow, and deeply respectful of the tissue and your nervous system.
There is no forcing or deep pressure — sessions often feel calming and grounding.
The goal is to reduce restriction, improve sensation, and support both physical and emotional healing. There is also no rush to treat a scar; we usually wait eight weeks before the first session to allow the body to go through the natural healing phases.
We work with your body, not against it.

07

Can Pilates help with balance as I age?

Absolutely. Pilates strengthens your core, improves awareness, enhances coordination, and supports fall prevention — areas I also specialise in through my teaching and presentations.
All classes are adapted to your level, whether you’re rebuilding confidence or building strength for active ageing.
It’s never too late to feel steady and strong.

08

Will I feel sore after a massage or Pilates session?

Some mild tenderness or muscle fatigue can occur, especially if your body is adjusting to new movement or releasing long-held tension. This usually settles within 24 hours. Staying hydrated and gentle stretching often helps.

Soreness means your body is adapting — not that something’s wrong

09

Can I combine massage and Pilates?

Yes — in fact, it’s one of the most effective ways to support lasting change. Massage helps release tightness and improve mobility, while Pilates retrains the body to move efficiently. Together, they create better posture, coordination, and resilience.

Massage gets you moving — Pilates keeps you moving well.

10

What should I wear to my Pilates class or massage appointment?

For Pilates, wear clothing that allows free movement and lets me see your alignment — leggings, shorts, or comfortable activewear work best.
For massage, undress only to your comfort level; you’ll be properly draped throughout. However, some techniques allow you to keep your clothes on - It is just another layer.

Comfort always come first.

11

How can I get the most out of my sessions?

Consistency and awareness make all the difference. Try to notice how you move and breathe between sessions, stay hydrated, and rest when needed. Combining massage and Pilates regularly helps reinforce long-term change and keeps progress steady.

Small, consistent steps create lasting results

12

Can I join a Pilates group class straight away?

Yes, you can join a group class, but we strongly recommend a private session first if you’re new, returning after injury, or unsure of your technique. It helps you learn the basics safely and feel confident in the class, as the pace is quite different in a group setting.
All group classes require a completed health form and booking, as spaces are limited.

13

What is your cancellation or booking policy?

Group Pilates bookings are made online and paid before the first class and are non-refundable.
Private massages and Pilates sessions are booked online and require 24 hours’ notice.
Late cancellations (less than 24 hours) incur the full fee to keep things fair and to allow space for clients on the waitlist.
